MNEMONIC

Mnemonic is a series of digital paintings through which I explore the transformation of memory. The term originates from Ancient Greek and refers to techniques that support remembering.

The works are based on photographs of industrial and consumer waste and digitized watercolor paintings. By combining these elements, I create layered digital compositions in which the organic and the industrial, the handmade and the machine-made, the unexpected and the controlled intertwine.

The process is both intuitive and technical. Existing materials are continuously fragmented, transformed, and reconstructed - becoming a new digital medium with which I can paint. The final works are printed on fine art paper, with vibrant, soft hues that evoke the tactile qualities of pastels and the physical pigments that once existed, now reimagined.

In these works, memory appears as a constantly evolving process. Rather than a simple record of the past, it emerges as an active construction in which perceptions accumulate, fragment, distort, and reassemble themselves. In this sense, memory is continuously reconfigured and reimagined.

Moving between the recognizable and the abstract, the works are detached from any specific time or place. They invite viewers to reflect on the ways memory shapes our understanding of change while questioning the reliability and permanence of what and how we remember.
